What a mess

Renovation_1

The first week-end in November we tried to change our office into a kids-room. As you can see from the pics, we are not finish yet. For two days (28th and 29th of October) we removed all the furniture, books and the rest of the stuff out of the office , into several boxes and into the addict. On Saturday evening Jim Byron, a missionary from the States, helped Thomas to carry shelves up-stairs into the addict. On Sunday we rested and celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary. I have choosen a restaurant in Heidelberg-Handschuhsheim. It was a nice evening, and sad enough that I forgot to take some pictures to show to you. On Monday morning Thomas went shopping for 3 hours. He took this day off, because on Tuesday, 1st of November, was a holiday for us and that gave us time for the renovation. Thomas had to buy only little things, but all the places were absolutely overcrowed. At IKEA he bought a new mattress to release his back pains and he had to wait an hour at the register, just to be allowed to pay. At the home depot store it was the same. There he bought a machine that puts the glue on the tapestry and other little things. It was just a crazy morning for him. in the meantime I was removing the old tapestry from the walls. We were glad that a friend of ours, Linda Trautwein, came after work and helped us to remove tapestry. Thomas could paint the ceiling twice and fill the cracks. On the next day we started with finding out the right consistency of the glue, because the first went lumpy, the second was still to thick, but o.k. to work with and the third worked out well. As you can see on the pictures the tapestry has a friendly sun yellow, but the carpet looks nasty. Thomas wants to put in a new carpet, but my favorite is a kind of wood floor (Laminat), because it is easier to clean and we can lay it on the existing carpet. The discussion between Thomas and me goes on and after that we will start carry the the baby bed and the changing table we got from Norbert and Betsy finally to its room. Some furniture we will throw away like the bedsofa, because it is broken and some shelves. Our entry at the moment is a mixture of trash and storage and I will be so happywhen everything has found its place.
